The love for one game uniting the world

The love for one game uniting the world
The players at Kibagare FC are the same as at any other club with a passion for playing the beautiful game, however there is one difference and that is the surroundings that they live in.

Kibagare slum is situated on the outskirts of Nairobi and is home to 17,000 people without clean water or sanitation systems.

I met Itotia who is the coach for Kibagare FC on social media and was overwhelmed by the passion that Itotia has for his teams and their commitment to training and playing. They have a senior mens team as well as boys playing at U10, 13, 15 & 17 plus junior and senior girls teams training daily.

When I see the environment that these children live in yet have smiles on their faces on the pitch I felt compelled to do something to help.

At home we have a cupboard full of football boots and trainers which my boys have outgrow and some which have hardly been worn, these were the foundations to a collection which is now growing daily to send to Kibagare. We have also managed to get some donations of training kit and much needed corner flags for the Bamboo stadium!!!

We are excited to get these items sent to Kenya very soon and know that we can make a small difference to the lives of these players.

I will keep this blog updated and if you want to donate please feel free to get in touch with me. We are collecting football boots and training kit. The desperately need goal posts and a used digital camera with video would be amazing for training purposes. Kibagare FC are on Instagram if you want to see some more photographs.

I will sign off this blog with Itotia's motto "overcome through sport"
